What to expect

What to expect on your first visit

Walking into somewhere new can feel daunting. It shouldn’t here. Our centres are relaxed, friendly places, and our staff and volunteers are used to welcoming people for the very first time.

1

Just come in and say hello

You don’t need an appointment or a referral. Come to the front desk, let us know it’s your first time, and we’ll take it from there.

2

We’ll show you around

A staff member or volunteer will have a friendly chat, show you the centre, and help you find an activity or service that suits you — at your own pace.

3

Join in when you’re ready

Stay for a cuppa, join a group, or just have a look around. There’s no pressure, and you’re welcome to come back as often as you like.

Who’s welcome

Who’s welcome? Everyone.

Karabi is for the whole community — children, families, young people, seniors and people with disability, from every culture and background. Whether you were born here or have just arrived, whether you come alone or bring the family, you belong here.

Costs and getting here

What does it cost?

Many of our activities are free, and others are low-cost to cover materials or a shared meal. Cost should never stop you taking part — if money is tight, talk to us and we’ll find a way.

Getting here

We have three centres across Western Sydney, each close to local shops and transport. If you’re not sure which one is closest or how to get there, see our centres page or give us a call and we’ll help.

Good to know

Questions you might have

This page is a friendly starting point with sample wording — Karabi can edit every word, and add real photos, in the editor.
Do I need to book or have an appointment?

For most activities, no — you can just come along. A few programs do need you to register, and we'll let you know if that's the case. If you're unsure, call us first and we'll explain.

I don't speak much English — can you still help me?

Absolutely. Our community speaks many languages, and we're used to helping people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Where we can, we'll arrange an interpreter or find a staff member or volunteer who speaks your language.

Can I bring my children?

Yes. Many of our programs are made for families, and children are welcome at most activities. If a particular group is for adults only, we'll let you know.

Is it really free?

Many activities are completely free, and the rest are kept as low-cost as possible. We never want money to be the reason someone misses out — please just ask.

I have a disability — are the centres accessible?

We do our best to make everyone feel at home, and we're a registered NDIS provider. Accessibility varies a little between our three centres, so call ahead and we'll make sure your visit goes smoothly.
